Big Sky. Big Tree. Big Journey.

When Santa was looking for a sleigh worthy of hauling one of his most special Christmas trees, our years of being on his “Nice List” paid off. There are over half a million trucking companies on the road in the US today, and we are proud and honored to be the one chosen for this special journey. Our trusty trucker Larry Spiekermeier will transport the 2017 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree on the 3,460-mile journey from Montana to Washington D.C. in a custom-wrapped Kenworth T680 Advantage. The privilege of transporting the People’s Tree allows the Whitewood team to further deliver on our promise of service to the communities we live and work in.

Look for Larry

Whitewood Transport was chosen to haul the 2017 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree based on the reputation their drivers have in the trucking industry. Larry Spiekermeier, who has 1.6-million accident free miles with the company, was selected to make the drive from the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana on a custom Kenworth T680 Advantage, which will haul a trailer specially designed for the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Tour. Larry was named Motor Carriers of Montana “Driver of the Year” in 2009 and 2015 and hauling specialized equipment with a payload of 100,000 to 130,000 pounds is second nature for him.

Larry will be joined on the road by his wife Mary Ann for the first 900 miles. A second Whitewood truck driven by Grant Coleman with 70 smaller trees and eight pallets of Made in Montana ornaments will also make the trip. At each stop, Larry and his crew will visit with those attending the event about this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Larry’s also got a few surprises to hand out to the kids at each stop. So, make sure to join us on our journey and Look for Larry when he comes through your town!
